Curiouser

Jodi Ketchum grew up in Waupaca, ventured out, and then returned to found Salt Cove Spa. Her story paints a picture of someone who is creative, disciplined, adventurous, and maybe a tad crazy. A great interview with a very interesting woman.

This weekend's show features our interview with Tyler Hackbarth of Wolf River Forge. Tyler was a freshman at New London High on 9/11/01 and made up his mind to go into the Army Infantry. He served 15 months in Iraq. When he got back to the states, he got a manufacturing job and within 3 years was managing the plant. Inspired by the TV show Forged in Fire, he took up bladesmithing...and yada yada yada he is now the only Master Bladesmith in Wisconsin and runs his own business artfully making knives and other blades. A very talented and interesting guy!

This week on Curiouser, our guest is Linda Kassera who started her career in education in Waupaca as a PE Teacher and Coach, and eventually becoming a counselor.

Linda started her career around the time of Title IX's passing, and was largely responsible for ushering Title IX into the School District of Waupaca. Because of that work, so many young women were able to compete and to learn the life lessons taught so well through sports.

Great interview with a wonderful woman!

This weekend's show will feature our very own Bob Tevis! Bob has quite the interesting life. The fact that he says people would have described him as a "class clown" is no surprise to anyone who knows him. A fun and funny guy and a great interview.

This week on Curiouser we talk with David Church who spent his career in education - most of it as a teacher or administrator in boarding schools. These days, David volunteers with the Rural Historical Society, and we talk with him about the community's upcoming Halloween event.

Take time to make time, and make time to listen to our interview with Steve Franke, founder of Test of Time Horology - Clock Repair and Restoration. A fascinating interview with a true craftsman, now available any time you like via the SoundCloud link below.

This week's episode features our interview an incredibly talented artist - Davette Leonard. As noted in the intro, people purchase her work and then humble-brag to their friends about finding a place in their home to hang their new "Leonard." Her's is the story of someone who is at once gifted, visionary, entrepreneurial, generous, and pragmatic.

Di Doersch is one interesting, accomplished, fun, and generous person. It's tempting to list highlights from the interview, but why... Just do yourself a favor and listen to this episode about the extraordinary life of another person we're lucky to call our neighbor in the Waupaca area.

This week on Curiouser, the creative and entrepreneurial Andrea Jenson, owner of Chain O' Lakes Litho. We talked with Andrea about growing up in Rural, how her first job at McDonalds helped shape her work ethic and open doors, and how she went from part-time employee to owner of a business before she was 30!

Our guest this week is Jen Lauritzen, inventor of Batter Up Flip Cup , a new game that's really taking off! Jen has a great entrepreneur's story, and we're happy to share it.  To learn more about the game, check out the Batter Up Flip Cup website.
